First off, with that length of time in the water, I would suggest replacing ALL fluids. Engine oil, transmission, transfer case, and both diffs.

Second, as memory serves me, the speedometer is actually a Class-2 data signal from the EBCM (ABS computer)to the cluster. The EBCM gets it's signal from the vehicle speed sensors on the wheels, so if all of them are screwing up and sending incorrect data, then the EBCM will be confused, and send the wrong data to the cluster. Also if this module were to get wet, or a connector get corroded, it would screw things up as well. Perhaps disconnect the EBCM and use a can of compressed air to blow out the connector terminals on the EBCM and the connector?
