If I recall from the info I've read here, it replaces the rear coil springs with airbags. I think the effect of the airbags lowered would be similar to a truck with coils carrying a load. I could be wrong, but fluid transfer between the tubes are during dampening so when it's raised the shocks are probably extended a bit but the fluid isn't being compressed or forced to the diagonal shock. I could be wrong, just my guess.
