I have had a good result with doing the k&n intake and a exhaust on my 2nd gen. So that being said I would disagree with

. Now this may be different on a 3rd gen vs my 2nd. I will say when it was just the intake my gain was mostly just sound and a little spunk. Once i did the exhaust also the combo gave me sound (duh) a hp gain and mpg gain. Maybe the combo is the key. Just my experience. My exhaust is a 2.5" pipe w/ no cat and a magnaflow muffler.
