Didn't you at least at some point feel that NOT having a gun on you while doing laundry on base was a reasonable thing?
If you didn't serve then fine, everyone's lift takes different paths but there are multiple people on this thread who keep pointing out that having everyone on base armed at all times (something beyond even threat level D) is not very reasonable.
I can see more service members on base being armed, more watches, perhaps even concealed carry for a portion of them but not all soldiers / sailors - all the time.
I'm sure there are service members who would find a policy of forcing every person to always carry a gun a great thing but they aren't the majority, not by far.
Perhaps at a FOB, Yes. But in Wisconsin at the commissary? No.

its my OPINION than every single person in our military should have a firearm. I don't care if its a desk clerk. they need to have, and know how to use their firearm. it should be part of their uniform. just like any other job, I show up prepared to do my job, in its entirety. I don't understand why the military and guns is any different.

perhaps not, I still think you should be required to have one while on duty.
agreed. which is another reason I think having our MILITARY unarmed is ridiculous.

while I haven't actually gone on base, best I could tell, its that easy. there is(was?) a tiny little guard shack, maybe a couple drop down gates, and perhaps one(armed?) guard. the gates, these aren't actually gates, but more like the things outside of parking garages. however, its been many years since Ive driven out and seen this, so its very possible, and likely security is higher now. considering events the last few years.
