I was installing some LED lights and a relay this weekend, I knew the power was cut because I had to reset my radio, clock, etc. Like a lot of people with 3rd gen fuel gauge issues, I relay on my trip meter to make a decision on when to fill up. Well my trip said 210 when the car lost power on the way home.
I turned it over and it turned but did not start, battery had enough juice, just did not seem to be getting fuel and since the trip meter showed 210, I was thinking clogged filter, fuel pump, etc. When it did turn over, it would sputter and then die again. Called road service, did not know what to tell them, they suggested new battery but I said the battery was fine and just bring me some gas. The tow company brought me about 2.5 gallons maybe a bit more. It started just fine after that so I drove to a nearby gas station and it took 15.3 gallons so it really took about 17.8 to a bit over 18. The the idiot light that I call my mind then turned on

I checked the scan gauge and it said 9 miles to empty.
So does disconnecting the battery cause a trip meter to reset? Cannot find any reference in the old threads, mostly just resetting rear wipers, windows, etc. Thanks for the help and enlightenment as usual
