It depends on what RPM range you want the engine to be in at a given speed.
Your diesel probably has a lower power band than a gasoline engine, so the RPM's don't need to be as high. I would think that 4.30s or 4.56 would be a good choice as far as getting it rolling from a dead stop, but not knowing if you drive at higher speeds does make a difference which is better.
