That really is the only way, unless you are prepared to live without windows, moonroof, and power seats (if you have those). It's all built into the Body-ECU and powered by a single 30A POWER fuse, so there is no easy, simple way. I looked.
EDIT: Hehe, does not apply if you have the RS3000 alarm. (I don't, so I didn't think of that.)
