I think it is because comfort is a relative term. Like I said, I came from a Toyota pickup with leaf suspension. That thing rode rough. I felt everything in the roadway and would get pretty pissed after hitting one of Washington state's many highway hols or broken seams as it would be loud, jarring, and generally scare the hell out of me if I wasn't expecting it.
When I bought my 4runner, it had Michelin LX tires. I was very impressed overall just how quiet and nice the 4runner handled. The tires were pretty old and I decided to replace them. I knew I wanted an AT tire and was hearing a lot of good things about Goodyear DTs and the new BFG K02s. I opted for the K02s and was really surprised at how quiet they were and it didn't feel much or any different than the Michelin LXs that I had on before. I can't comment on older BFG ATs or the Goodyear DTs, only what I got.
I am just wondering if there is a more pronounced difference between the Goodyear DTs in C and E versus, lets say BFG K02s. Maybe so maybe not.
