Home made tool box
ChildreOfBodom,
So sorry no pics today. The 2015 4Runner is in the Service Dept. but I wanted to say that I was so tired of putting some necessary items in cardboard boxes in the cargo area! So I wood-worked an idea I had. I made a very shallow (about 2 1/2" high) wooden box with partitions. It's maybe 4ft. X 3ft., length X width. Top and bottom are1/2" plywood. I hinged the top's rear to the back and then a piano hinge across the width about 1/2 way back from the front. I throw the cargo rug over it and I have all that space back except for the loss of 2 1/2" height. I'll get a picture up here soon. With the top hinged 1/2 way back I bifold the box open to expose my tools that I'm more likely to use. I put my jumper cables coiled up and flat in one partition and even a tire lug nut cross-bar in another. Plenty of room for pliers, screwdrivers, gloves, rags, towels, bungies, hammer, etc. in other partitions. The partitions keep the box strong for any weight that might sit on top of it when hauling stuff.
