My pulmonologist was astounded that I just quit cold turkey. He knows my history, that my wife smokes, about my history of smoking and failing to quit, that I tried every possible method of quitting over the years.
When I told him I quit he was surprised and asked me how I finally did it.
My reply: “C’mon doc, you disagnosed me with Stage III COPD 2 months ago, irreversible lung disease is pretty good motivation.”
Us smokers know the risks, I wasn’t surprised when diagnosed but it was still a “Damn!” moment.
No lecture, but remember, no e of us are invulnerable.

Good job! Quit cold turkey is the best way per recent research. Cutting down over time to quit does NOT work.
