I have been trying to figure out a good place to mount my bluetooth mic that is sufficiently close to work well. But I didn't really want to make any kind of permanent mount or have to worry about running wires behind a bunch of crap.
Then suddenly one day, I found that the clip magically snaps right here. Then I was able to tuck the wire up with a bit of double-sided tape and run it back behind the glovebox out of sight but easy to pull out if needed.

So here's a weird mini-mod I came up with. Since I don't have ABS there's a nice blank spot on the fender. I bolted down a little wire basket to hold random things like oil-check rags, tools, maybe groceries...
Haha! this has "Burrito Warmer" written all over it to me, Lol

I got a nice driver's side Drifter CB antenna mount from [MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION] and spent some time getting the install just right. I wanted to retain the factory rubber bumper to keep the hatch properly supported on both sides. I know that some folks just remove it altogether and it doesn't seem to cause any problems, but the perfectionist in me wanted a more complete solution :becky:
The rubber bumper mounted to the body interfaces with a molded plastic stopper that is bolted to the hatch. These have a angled faces that fit together and provide a bit of side and forward preload to keep the hatch snug when closed.
With the CB mount installed it spaces the rubber bumper out a little ways. The CB mount is 3/32" thick but the actual spacing outward is a little more than that. When I installed it all as-is I found the hatch difficult to close and the driver's corner was pooched out about an 1/8" further than before.
I figured I would have a hard time trimming the rubber bumper so I focused my attention on the plastic stopper on the hatch. I started by milling away 3/32" and had to increase it little by little to get a perfect fit. I milled around the alignment pins and trimmed them back to round with an exacto-knife.
After this modification, the hatched closed perfectly! The sweet spot I found was to mill the thickness down just to the parting line of the molded plastic.
Here's the passenger side stopper as-is (I did not cut this one):
And the driver's side which was modified:

Forgot to mention, I also installed my [MENTION=89792]bhicks[/MENTION] 3D printed rear cupholders. Man these things rock! I've had the backseat full of passengers a few times and they love them too.
Update: More than 6 months in and this is still one of my favorite mods!
That's just what I have been looking for! My 2000 SR5 has nothing but a hole where the original cup holders should have been. I clicked on [MENTION=89792]bhicks[/MENTION], but didn't see any reference to these. How do I get my hands on one of these?

Another valve adjustment on the 3RZ. It was easier this time having done it once before. The valves closer to the back of the engine are a PITA but with patience and some bent screwdrivers wrapped in electrical tape, well... anything is possible.

Thanks, Hab! I wasn't aware that there was a problem until I installed it.
Also, some extra work was required to ensure the bracket got a good ground to the frame. I had to scratch paint off at one surface of the antenna mount and also on one of the mount screws. Some rubber had to be cut away from the rubber mount where the PH3 screw meets it, and I put a toothed washer underneath it so it would bite the CB bracket.
But despite the couple of install tweaks it needed, this is a really nicely designed mount with good fit and finish.
