What are the 5th Generation Cargo Dimensions?

Hey Guys,

I am interested in buying a 5th generation 4runner to transport some of my business equipment to different locations.

1) What are the dimensions as seen in this picture?

2) Also, what products do you recommend that can cover the whole floor area of the above cargo area? Some type of custom rubber map? I will mostly be transporting toolboxes and some other metal and plastic cases.

There are 3 different configurations ,all with different dimensions. Rear seat bottoms come out real easy(removing a couple of bolts) too to get more length inside,at least on mine .

As far as the cargo area ,I've just used the factory cargo mat(rug) for the past 9 years in my 4runners and it's held up to everything I've thrown on it ,including dogs,kids,toolboxes,building supplies and just lately a couple of 6ft Nellie R Stevens Holly trees and cleans/vacuums right up like new.

Considering that the OP did the work to post up such a nicely illustrated photo, the links above aren't as helpful as they could be. None of them list the OP's requested depth dimension. Based on this thread http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/120783-2013-2014-4Runner-Cargo-Dimensions, the depth (blue dimension above, seats folded) is 66". The width between wheel houses (green dimension) is 44." The usable height (red dimension) is 32" above the folded seats and 36" at the rear.

Good info. And as far a mats go, i use a rubber truck bed mat cut to fit. It works great for my needs, and is very non slip.

Does anyone know the interior height in the cargo area of a 5th gen 4runner? I have found one measurement of 36.5" with the cargo tray. I'm looking at pulling the second row seats completely out and making the cargo area as low as possible. Hoping to hit 40" high... thanks

Clarification?

Thought I’d bump this. The diagram above is very helpful but I’m trying to figure out what the height of the opening is at it’s smallest dimension. Everything I’ve found seems to be roof height. Basically I’m trying to figure out how big of a box I can slide in the back if it was 44” wide. Thank you.

My dimension between wheel wells was 42”. I made a drawer box for the rear and I don’t see you fitting anything 44” wide in that spot.

Thank you for the response. Okay, I’m good with 42”. Not so much worried about that dimension as the vertical dimension of the opening. I mentioned the 44” only to illustrate what I’m asking.

I took out the big lower trim panels that cover the wheel wells and side walls of the cargo area. And also took out the OEM carpet in the cargo area to expose the Styrofoam panel underneath. Then I installed a piece of 3/4" plywood directly on top of the Styrofoam. That plywood is 43 1/2" wide, and goes from one wheel well to the other.

With this build, I think a 43 1/2" wide x 32" high box would just fit in the opening of the rear hatch. The opening is curved, so it's hard to say exactly. If the box is a little narrower than 43 1/2", then it can be a little higher. With a 32" high box, there would be about another 3 inches of space at the top center of the rear hatch, because of the curvature.
