Somebody private messaged me so I thought I would post here. Not sure if there will be any interest, but I will post pics and more details when I have more time. I ended up doing a full audio system replacement of the 5th Gen Limited JBL system and some other mods. Let me know if interested in seeing more and it will motivate me to share pics.

Man, I typed up a big response but it looks like it did not send. I will keep this one short and then come back and post more with photos. Essentially, I ended up taking a full journey down the upgrade path and it has been a blast. I tried the DSR1 and an Audiocontrol LC2i Pro to use for a replacement subwoofer, but it didn't turn out to my satisfaction. Due to the factory processor and filtering, the only place to get a proper low frequency signal is at the factory subwoofer and amp location. Thus, I had to remove the interior 1/4 trim panel. Once I did that, I got a good bass signal, but ultimately was not satisfied with the overall system. That began my journey of removing nearly every panel on the car, adding sound treatment, replacing the head unit, all the speakers, and running new speaker wiring 16 guage OFC.

Here's what I upgraded so far:

Audio
Head Unit: Pioneer 5700 NEX digital multi-media receiver; buit in crossovers, graphic equalizer, time alignment, speaker level adjustment, subwoofer control, and 6 RCA pre-out
Front drivers: Focal ES 165K 2 way components; 6.5" woofers in the doors, 1.5" aramid inverted dome tweeters mounted on the dash
Rear doors and cargo: 4 x Morel Tempo Ultra Integra MKII 5.25" 2 way speakers
Subwoofer: Audiofrog GB12D2, dual 2 ohm voice coils; custom made sealed enclosure
Amp 1: JL Audio XD600/6v2; 75 watts RMS x 6 channels
Amp 2: JL Audio XD600/1v2; monoblock subwoofer amp 400 watts RMS powering the subwoofer, 4 ohms
Amp 3: replacing the above, JL Audio XD1000/1v2 go power 600 watts RMS @ 4 ohms, should add a couple decibels and improve sound quality
Power:
start battery - X2 Power AGM 840CCA BCI Group 24F
auxiliary battery - XS Power XP200 AGM
Redarc SBI212D Dual Sensing Smart Start Battery Isolator 12V 200A
Sparked Innovations RBX-4CH Switchable Four-Channel Relay Box
Voltage Booster PRO O.G. Edition
Other
Amp Rack:
Currently on Version 3 of the amp rack, which replaces the factory sub and amp (quite a bit of space left when you remove the factory equipment)
a) v1 was just plywood to use for shaping, sizing and fitment; easiest to experiment with
b) v2 and v3 were mostly ABS plastic with some hardboard (masonite); also for additional fitment and experimentation to find the best shape and setup
c) V4 is work in progress and will be 100% ABS, using the previous templates, will be fully custom built and finished
Lighting:
- Just installed the Diode Dynamics hitch mount LED 4th brake light with warning blink, running light, and backup light (love this!)
-Rago Fabrication auxiliary battery box and accessory tray (compressor mount)
- Cali-Raised LED Molle Panels, rear windows, and center cargo horizontal tray (the cargo tray just arrived and I will be installing this weekend

More to come, thanks again for messaging me this will motivate me to organize my pictures and post more if people want to see. Let me know if you have any questions and/or tell me where you are at with your audio journey!
