They both fill kind of the same space, size and price-wise, and now that the 4Runner has the 3rd seat option, there's even less difference. The Sequoia is too much of a whale to be much more than a 4x4 grocery getter anyway. I drove one several years back when I bought an Expedition, and very much like the Expedition, I never felt like I the thing was totally under control.

I don't know if you've sat in the Sequoia, but they are MUCH larger on the inside (and on the outside). It is a FULL-sized SUV. The 4Runner is still a mid-size.
There are people that do off-road the Sequoia. Not too much aftermarket support, but still is a worth candidate.
