Teflon tape and pipe dope are the same thing. If you’re going to use both apply the tape first and then the dope. Only apply to npt fittings. Do not use on compression fittings. And point of use water heaters are garbage. Super expensive and the elements burn out fast. You’re going to be happy with your small tank heater in the long run.
