Who’s getting the biggest discounts on TRD Pros

Who is getting the biggest discounts on the TRD Pros? The number of Pros sitting on lots has really increased in my area. A dealership near my work has had two super whites sitting on the lot for a month. A couple years ago you never would have seen this. The Tacoma pros are already going for a couple thousand under MSRP. Wondering if anyone is getting big discounts on the 4runner Pros. I’m
Considering trading in the TRD Offroad if the price is right. I think a lot of people want to wait for the 2020 upgrades.

I got my 2017 for 2k off in July 2017 in MA. Went with a Pro cause I did not think I would mod too much, you know how that goes..in the end, I've pissed away loads more on other vehicles and have no regrets going with a pro. I don't think you will have a hard time in this area getting a small discount.
 
I think it depends on the color.

Special colors fly off the shelves.

Normal colors like white and black make a lot less sense to pay for over a TRD ORP or SR5.

Not surprised they have lost some of their luster after years
 
The dealership by my house has had a super white pro on the lot for months, must be a prejudice against white trucks
 
I got my 2019 Voodoo Blue TRD Pro for 1k under MSRP with predator steps and tint installed for free. I am in Dallas, TX
 
I got my 2018 last summer for $1K off of sticker, I was ok with that. I think the Pro makes sense regardless of the color, Toyota will end up slapping the special colors on the regular trims a few years down the road anyway lol.

My take is that the 2019 Pro price increase has finally put it out of reach of most buyers at $48-50k and it simply doesn't add up with only slightly better suspension, a sunroof half of your buyers don't want/need, and a horrid repurposed FJC rack that needs to come off. The news of the 2020 MY coming with much needed upgrades like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, push button start/keyless entry, larger screens, and safety features as standard is probably a large reason why so many 2019's are still on the lot as well. I know if I were in the market for one I would wait for the 2020.
 
TRD Pro since you can get TRD wheels and tires and the JBL stereo on an ORP now is nothing but added FOX shocks and 1" taller springs in the front. So the only real difference maker is the color because you can't get a color like Voodoo Blue in an ORP. You can add the springs and shocks on an ORP for less than the cost of getting a PRO.

I wonder if all those upgrades will push the MSRP to $50-53k.
 
I definitely feel like the amount of 19 Pros has dropped significantly because of the announcement of the 2020's and the new features
 
Watch the 2019s start dropping in price as the 2020 is about to get rolled out. They're gonna be begging you to take them off their hands, especially once the the 2020 start hitting lots.

Have they released the pricing on the 2020s yet? I feel like it has to be ridiculous based on the cost of vehicles with the current options. Even ORPs aren’t very cheap with the minimal luxury tech they have now.

This argument makes sense from a hardware standpoint but it still doesn't change the fact that the Trail/TRD OR will never have the resale value or market interest that a Pro carries and that is why some or maybe even most buy them. This argument is tiresome and that poor horse has long since been beaten many lifetimes over, no one asked about the TRD OR so why both bringing it up?!
 
With the 2019 updates, the starting MSRP is now around 50k on the pros. I think the higher price is turning some people away. There was a rush to get the remaining 18s before the price hike (which is why I got mine.) The 20s will be even more expensive.

Also, I think they have lost their focus on the pro. It started out as an off-road focussed vehicle, without the frills of the limited or premium models. Now they are adding all the luxury items, which is making it more expensive and more difficult to mod.

I’m sure it will. The Pro price is catching up with the times. Spec out a loaded 4 door JL Rubicon and you’ll see that it isn’t too difficult to get to $60K. When you look at it that way, a 2020 Pro for $52k will look like a bargain.

The PRO has a better resale value over the TRD off road....however....that is offset by the fact that you can easily get at least $4K off sticker on an off road. Up until now, you had to pay MSRP for the PRO. It seems to be a different case this year for the reasons discussed but will probably be the case again next year once they are released with all the upgrades and army green.

I bet your wrong if they 2020 msrp is at 50k-53k plus markup

No special circumstances really. I had been looking for a Pro for a couple months on and off, went to a dealer but they didn't have one in blue, went to another dealer a couple weeks later and they had the one I wanted on the lot, though missing a couple unimportant things (like the USB ports in the back) but not a big deal.

I met with them three separate times to negotiate pricing. I used to do cold call sales so the salesman game is nothing new to me. I also knew the dealership either makes money on markup OR monthly bonuses for volume of vehicles sold, so I played the volume angle and convinced them to let me have the break instead of pushing their markup. They used the standard line 'What price would you want to take this truck home today?' several times, and I aggressively pushed for the far low so they had to work their way back up from my range, not theirs.

Between that, $7500 down and a 4k trade-in, I'd say we're in good shape!
