You do not need all the keys to be present when simply adding a new key.
I have added plenty of keys without ever deleting the current ones.

However if you told the locksmith one of them was lost, they probably did the responsible thing and deleted all the keys, then added just the one you bought from him. You can take your wife's key back and they can add it in about 5 minutes.
