Padding gives you the .25

Any of the cheap indoor/outdoor carpets at HD or Lowe's are so thin it almost doesn't count.
The thickness comes from the padding.
I used the pre-cut 6'x8' rug pad from HD - think it was $24.
Pre-cut 6'x8' pieces of carpet are also available and 1/2 as much as the stuff on the roll.
That's why I went with grey instead of trying to match the black OEM carpet.

Here are pics of my setup which is able to sit above and retain the factory sliding tray.

Carpeted plywood is attached to a custom metal frame that bolts into the factory tie down holes. I mounted an ARB fridge slide to the plywood.

I've been debating something like this as I finally am considering a fridge. How are the front legs attached to the tiedown bolt hole?

One thing that makes me think twice about this is I sleep in the back when solo camping and this eliminates the flat floor.

Each leg is simply bolted in utilizing longer hardware. The front feet I had to make a rubber spacer between the frame and the floor to make it level.

There is ~3" difference in height in that section of the floor so certainly wouldn't let you lay flat unless you tried to raise the rest of the floor where the seats are folded down somehow.


BTW - if anyone is interested and is in the DC Area this setup is going to be listed on the For Sale Thread...I sold the 4Runner in January. :sobbing:

Dometic is having a sale on their last gen fridges. They just came out with a new line but more features and such but if all you need is a fridge then the last gen stuff is a good deal.

Any Dobinsons drawer users out there? Has really caught my eye because of the clean full-coverage panels and price point compared to other setups. I'd love to hear some feedback!

i own one, and the fridge slide latch is a joke. it unlatches on its own, so when u drive, it will start banging on your rear hatch or front seat every time you stop and go. It also, has up and down play so it makes a lot of noise when you drive. There is no real way to fix this issue.

I ROYALLY hate it, but since I'm stuck with it, I'll make the most of it.

Just clicked on that Dometic link. They show the CFX 35W at $899. That is the exact price of the latest model of that same size. Wondering how that is a “clearance” price.

I am looking to add a drawer in the back to hold my tool set, air hose, and tire chains. However I want the ability to sleep in the car while fully maintaining the use of the second row. That means the drawer needs to be super skinny, see the picture below. Those are exterior dimensions. Has anyone done this? Are there any pre-made drawers this small? To make matters worse, that tool set is a bit large. The minimum interior dimensions need to be L"x12.5"Wx4"H.

Also, I found Build Your Own Storage Drawer - MiY HDP Custom SUV & Truck Solutions and they build custom drawers. Has anybody had experience with them?

I can not speak directly to the product itself, I have met the owner and been to his factory. The parent company, Stratis recently purchased some highly automated machines from the company I work for and we are finishing the installation now.

The owner is active in the outdoor community in Northern WI and came up with this idea years ago to supplement what they do on the wood case goods side. I have seen the product in his truck, their small showroom, and of course being produced on their cnc's. the product looks good is certainly robust since it's made from HDPE.

Looking at your minimum interior height of 4", while i do not know what thickness of HDPE he uses I don't see any issues with the total height being around 5.5". they list a 9" minimum total height but i know with their cnc's they can cut anything with ease

Good to hear. The height dimension is definitely the least important. 9" is fine, I just don't want something massive. I sent them a message through the website yesterday asking what the interior dimensions of a 14.5x36x9 box would be. I'll see what they say. I definitely understand that 1 inch on either side is not a lot of room for material and sliders.
