I just want to thank everyone in this thread for posting their setups. There are so many great ideas in here and some extremely skill craftsmen.

For our platform we debated between making it out of wood or metal, and finally decided on metal because we could go without stabilizing the middle and have one big drawer. Then we decided to nix the drawer and leave an open space under the platform. We will finish it with a door on the front that will probably flip downward, however the drawer idea might still pop up once we get out and use this a few times.

So anyway, we used 1x2 steel for the 35x41 frame, built it to fit the entire cargo area. We then put wood flaps either side to cover the wheel wells that are hinged for access if needed (thank you Jerad) and supported underneath. The top is plywood covered in black carpet. Everything is anchored using turnbuckles and the stock brackets in the floor.

The extra sleeping platform piece that goes over the back seats is 53.5x30, made of wood and covered with carpet. It has removable wood legs that slot into place so that that piece can be stored on top of the cargo area piece during transit. The two pieces slot together using sectional couch brackets.

It gives us a sleeping area of 65" length and ~54" width (width-wise will fit a full size mattress). We are short, lol. I fit on the platform perfectly but my husband's feet hang off the end and he's ok with that. We have a tent for the back with the cargo door open so the length isn't really an issue. This setup allows for the back seats to remain intact in case we have a passenger, but we may consider lengthening the middle part and removing the seat-bottoms.

Still need to make the door (I want one that says "TOYOTA" like btcsxj's amazing drawer) and the pieces that cover the front on each side. Not bad for a work in progress but at least we can begin sleeping on it!

I've re-worked my rear storage.

Basically I made the right-hand sides taller to accommodate the ladder I use with my RTT. I've got some fly rod tubes that fit between the ladder and the totes, but didn't make it into this photo.

Looking for a great drawer system for a couple shotguns, probably diagnol (not broken down) and still fit a dog kennel on top. I have been thinking of truck vault. Anyone have experience with that system?

Like this ARB system. What is the drawer height? Is the lower pull out a table or drawer?

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I do not think you will find a drawer system that will fit a shotgun that isn't broken down. I have a system that I built myself and the drawers are 32" long on the inside. I maximized as much space as possible. I can BARELY fit my AR-15 with a 16" barrel and the stock in the shortest position when it is diagonal. My 870 Express is at least 10 inches longer than my AR, not a chance something like that would fit. Unless you are running some sort of tactical short barreled shotgun, plan on taking your barrel off.

I have a system that I built myself and the drawers are 32" long on the inside. I maximized as much space as possible. On second thought, your only chance of getting a fully assembled shotgun in a drawer is if you get a single drawer system (ie. Truck Vault or BOSS Strong Box) and go diagonal, but that will even be a stretch.

Lay your shotgun across the empty trunk space at a diagonal and see if its even possible!

SBR, or AR pistol will fit if you want a rifle.

Keltec sub2000 and su16 will also fit

Keltec KSG shotgun, and maybe a shotgun with folding stock will fit.

My trunk gun is a su16 or sub2000

basically anything at the federal minimum 26 inch OAL will fit, but check with your state laws also.

I've got two SKB short double rifle cases under a piece of plywood covered with "rubber" padding. Lots of storage room in the cases (with foam removed) and they are extremely sturdy. The covered piece of plywood hides the cases and pretty much looks like the "floor" of the cargo area especially at night.

I'm currently building one and I'd like to avoid have to tear everything off to get to the metal body/having to drill it out...

That's what I use to hold mine in place.

Yes, they do fit perfectly. I can fit tons of gear in them and have them locked and locked down to the D-rings via a cable lock.
They are model 2SKB-4009.

Yep, I use all four OEM tie down rings for mine

Looks good, but don't forget to leave some clearance for those fridge vents so it can reject the heat... blocking them could decrease efficiency and increase power consumption.

Good point! I've got about an inch on each side, but lots of room to the rear. I could drill some holes through the wooden side for additional relief.
