rust question
I found a decent 4runner for sale but sadly the rear and front bumper have rust. should I stay away from it? it has ~125k miles its limited/ manual
had a tranny replacement 45kmiles ago. ( owner claim that the 2nd gear was being a ***** so toyota replaced it under warrenty) I dont want a rusted ride, is there anything i can do to clean the rust / simply change de bumper, and what would b a fair price, its listed at 9k, but he told me he could go in the ~7k

The bumpers aren't too difficult to replace. I did my front bumper, and one section of the rear, even with my very limited wrenching abilities.

Question isn't how hard is it to replace the bumpers, the question is "how rusty is the rest of the truck underneath if the bumpers are showing signs of it?"

If he made that mistake, just pass on it no matter how nice it is.

That's what I would be worried about too.

Yes the Limited with a manual raises a red flag. As for the bumpers, that is no big deal. If the truck is in the snow belt than not surprising. I replaced the center section on my 97 and the front bumper is hanging in there. Definitely get under the truck to check it out closer.
Also look at the power steering lines as they tend to rust out as well. Just had mine replaced after 15 years and 167,000 miles.
