Is this 4runner good to buy?

Have been looking for a 4runner as my family car. Saw this ads on CL:
98 Toyota 4runner limited 4wd

Haven't checked it out myself but contacted the owner.

it's:
1998, 170k miles, auto, V6 4wd
current owner bought it 2 yrs ago at 153k
had timing belt done; plugs; wires; 1 coil pack changed and 3 injectors replaced
brand new battery; oil change syntec; coolant flushed

Issues:
rear axle seal is leaking
corner hit in an accident; damaged it under the battery tray; front lower prices were replaced and driver fender and airbags was replaced
no service records since he did most of the work himself

So what do you guys think? Worth looking into? Easy/cheap to fix? What about price?

If you could get it for less then $3500 then it would be a deal. That fender is almost a completely different color. I'd be very scared about someone that did it themselves.
 
man i dont know. i think u can find better. how much do u want to spend? around 5?

its got a few dents and dings i saw right off the bat (back hatch and rear passenger window) he replaced the airbag with the wrong color airbag.
he has seat covers and steering wheel cover. take them off to check the condition if they are all wore out and ripped. not only those little things worry me its that he has done the repairs himself and if u can see problems of his work they are most likely more you dont see.

man i dont want to give you all bad news but i think u could find better.
 
Third generation 4runners litter the country, especially in automatic form. That one is by no means special. You'll find far better ones out there.
 
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say there's more wrong with it than those fixed, but not fixed properly issues. I'd pass.
 
Wow. I think I would never pay attention to these little things. I'm really not a car person I guess. Time to move on. Really appreciate the comments from your guys.
 
Way over priced. That's a $2000 truck on a good day and might be worth the gamble at that price. Otherwise pass. There are a ton of other ones out there. I bought a '97 Limited with 190K on it for $2,800. Much, much cleaner than that one.

Thank you PitbullRescuer for pointing me some 4runners. I guess the problem with me is that I'm not a car person, so I don't know what to check in order to tell if they are good or not. So I always need some pro/mechanics to help me (sometimes hard to find one of those guys that I can trust.). And also, not like you, I don't have the time and skills to fix them and make them shine again. So I'm looking for something that is pretty much ready to go.

Wish you have one up for sale which will be totally trouble free.

My $.02 -

Even thought it's the oldest one, I like the first one the most. I don't see any obvious red flags from the post - and one owner sold by owner (if that's true) is usually a huge plus.

Second one - where's the hood scoop? It's a Sport, or at least it has the painted bumpers and grille, but it's missing the scoop. Probably a wreck repair, although I guess maybe some owner just didn't like the hood scoop.

Third one - The messed up tailgate badges almost certainly indicate a tailgate replacement or respray. While minor repaired damage is hardly the end of the world, I always get a little concerned when they slap badges all over the place back there. Makes me question the quality of work done.
