check engine is on and vsc light is on

Want to know why my vsc light is coming on periodically along with the check engine light? I realize there must be a bad module or sensor.. Most of the time both lights will just go off when I drive a long distance and go over 75 mph.. Not sure if the traction control is working properly because I can't get that light to come on at all..

In my 2003, the VSC and Trac lights came on whenever the CEL came on.
I think it's a Toyota thing. They should all go off when you get the code or codes reset.

You can go buy Auto parts store and they will read your codes for you. Then you can search and see what the codes mean. It sounds like a bad catalytic converter to me. My converter was bad and the light would come on after about 50 miles of driving, usually on the interstate.

Hope this helps.

Gotta get that scanned to see what code the ECU is throwing out.
I have the same thing going on, however its the Primary 02 sensor.

My buddy had the same problem with both lights coming on. He brought it over to my place and I ran the codes with an UltraGauge. His CEL was due to a misfire in cylinder 3. Replaced the plug and both lights went out.

Once you clear the code, the VSC light should stay off as well.

Buy a new gas cap.
If you leave your gas car loose your vsc light will come on.
Bought a new cap and the light went out the next time I started it.
Has something to do with the pressure in the fuel system and it disables the VSC system.
