To much Flex?

To much Flex? Updated...

So,

I know this got some of your attentions because if I was seeing this I would look also.

Over the last two days I took the time to find the gremlin that was making noise in my truck. Well I found it. Fan shroud was loose and rattling and making noise. Anyhow, after that was fixed and all put back together the way it should be, then I started my OCD about cleaning my truck. The undercarriage was nasty from the CV's slinging grease all over it. So cleaned that, that included all the skids, front end, transfer case, everything. That included the non factory tow hitch also. Anyhow, I noticed that E-locker had some rubbing on it and I knew it was from the sway bar because I could see the marks on it. We all know what is in the pile of spear parts now.

So before I got the sway bar out I tried to hi lift the back tire up to make room. Well this was great but the tire never fully came off the ground and the jack was at about 3/4 the way up. The front end was way off the ground and tilted over to the drivers side.

I buttoned the truck up and took it for a test run around the area. Well I can't find a spot to flex it all the way out. The 31 in tire that is on it was under the slider pretty much. That is how far it is flexing.

So the next questions is? How do I change a flat on the back now,lol. Will I be able to jack it up with something else or will it just keep flexing?

I talked to Kraze about it also and he was even a little stumped. I didn't think the 906's were going to flex that much but they do! Let hear the thoughts and ideas on this one.

My set up right now-

Front- 99 Talls Factory

Rear- 906's with 4th gen OEM Shock. No sway bar in rear.

Also threw in some other pics for you all to enjoy. It has come along way from when I got it.

The last Hi Lift Pic is where I had it up to yesterday and the back was still on the ground. Jack was starting to slip so I stopped to take Pics at this point.

Thought you might like the new grill, but wait there is a locker? That should throw a few people.

Just keep a chain or strap with to wrap around the axle and something solid on the frame to limit droop if doing any work with a hi lift on the rear. (Insert typical disclaimer about never just using the hi lift to support the truck while you work on it and use proper jack stands/support)

But yeah, the chain/strap around the axle and some other solid point sounds like a good idea, if there is a spot for that to work.

If some people didn't take off with the camera for vacation. I swear. We got work to do people! :rockon:

If you have a floor jack you can jack from the axle housing which will bring them right off the floor so you can swap the tires. Funny thing I have never used my highjack in the rear yet. LOL

I was thinking that also but if I'm on a trail that might be an issue. I'll work something out. If not I'll just have Kraze's mall crawler drag me home,lol. It already saved me from one major issue already.

You bite your tong:tongue1:. Now what fun would that be. I'm trying to get the best of both worlds. Good road manners and every day driving, and also good on the trail. I'm close but this is one thing i didn't account for.

Surprised no one has suggested this yet. Don't jack it up from the side jack it up from the rear. I'd use the rear hitch to jack from with the high lift.

I did that also to see. Lets just say it was sketchy. The jack moves allot. I will look into getting a bigger base plate at some point.

I think that is really a matter of opinion. What is good for you is not for me. I got my truck to go camping,fishing, and run trails in. In a stock rig/format that is not going to cut the mustard where I go.
