What do you recommend for me as far as the cruise control ? The weather right now in NJ is shit so I cannot take any pics of look under to see what I have....

Don't even get under the truck. Sit inside and take out your stereo bezel/center dash trim piece. Underneath it you will find your cruise control computer box at the bottom. take the white wire with a red stripe and connect it to any power wire. This makes the cruise computer think you are in drive and will allow it to engage. If you remove the power wire the cruise will stop working. That is as simple as i can put it

I can't remember exactly but i think i used an ACC power wire from my ECT button that got removed with the A/T. I had already relocated the button to the left side of my steering column when i retrofitted the cupholder center console so i already had the wiring running into that area. I also used that same ACC power wire to power the Clutch start cancel button, I believe the wire is Black/Orange stripe (B-O). Use a simple 12v lightbulb tester to double check.

Basically any 12v source. Does the power source simply be , power on when ignition is on. And power off when ignition is off

So I took apart the center console. And there's no cruise control ecu there. MAybe it's under the steering wheel driver kick panel ?

'97 EWD says C/C ECU is center dash. Diagram isn't all that great so I can't be more specific.

Which part did you take apart? It is located directly below the stereo so first remove your shifter trim and then remove your A/C button and faceplate, then the two screws holding the center dash trim piece. you will have to disconnect a few things to get the center dash trim piece out of the way such as, hazard button, rear defrost button, clock, cig lighter, ashtray light... If you removed this center dash trim piece already and did not locate your C/C ecu then i believe we figured out your problem... your missing the ECU, lol. lets go from here, keep me posted

i know it sounds silly, but im not stupid lol!
This is the only part i removed from the center console.
I know i have C/C because i had it prior to manual swap. And C/C light turns on when i press it but it doesnt work!
All i saw, Air bag ecu, antenna relay, abs ecu or something. Nothing that said cruise control!!!
unless it is behind driver kick panel ?

Wow! you are right, its not there. thats super strange, that is exactly where mine sits on my 97 limited. Im not sure where else it could be... I can't seem to find any pictures online so next time i take mine apart ill take a pic.
The way i found mine was by tracing that wire from down underneath the truck where the A/T harness plugged into the old A/T, through the engine bay and firewall and into the cab behind the glovebox. Then it took me a while to realize it went down to my C/C box below my stereo. I could have jumped that same wire underneath the truck at the old A/T harness but i wanted to wire it through the clutch cancel pedal switch.
If you can't find the C/C ecu and you are desperate for cruise then just make the connection below the truck when weather permits but just be careful pushing the clutch in when the cruise is engaged
this is what your old harness looked like and considering the wire goes straight to the C/C ecu from there you should be able to make the connection underneath the truck. Connect the White-Red stripe to the Black-Yellow stripe
Im really surprised your C/C box wasn't there, ill continue trying to find better pics or eventually just take mine back apart... again, haha

I'm going to see if the cruise control box is behind the kick panel. I have to have one somewhere because I have c/c. Why do you say becareful pushing the clutch when the cruise is engaged ?
I'm pretty sure that plug in your pic. Is still under my the truck.

There's a sensor there that cancels cc with the first tiniest bit of movement in the clutch pedal. Not sure why you need to be careful.

dude! really? Its pretty evident you didn't read any of this thread so i will quickly tell you that he did a 5-speed swap... This means the vehicle did not have a clutch to begin with

You have two options. You can just jump the two wires and the cruise will work or you can jump the two wires through your clutch switch. If you don't go through the clutch switch then when the cruise is on and you push the clutch it will redline your engine and bounce off the rev limiter until you cancel it with the brake or the cancel button.
The clutch cancel switch is connected when the clutch is up and as soon as you push the pedal it breaks the circuit which kills the cruise.
you are sending a 12v signal to the computer through that white-red wire and it is satisfying a condition enabling the cruise to work. If the condition becomes unsatisfied the cruise will not work

Good to know, I don't want to mess with wiring harnesses or really do much wiring...
