Background

I found this 4Runner after it was traded in at my work. 164k miles, it was one owner with no accidents and maintained fairly well by the previous owner. I jumped on it before it could even be moved to be sold anywhere else.

When I first found her:

Waiting for it's safety inspection so I could buy it:

Finally purchased and sitting in the parking lot at work next to my then current 2000 SR5:

Of course I drove it home the first day, and I haven't stopped since. 22,000 miles and 10 months later!

Shortly after buying her (actually 4 days afterwards), I moved into my first place. Featured is my roommates M3 and my dad's 12 DCLB TRDSport Tacoma in Spruce Mica

The only picture of both 4Runners at my Apartment, they were only together a couple times:

First round of modifications

Almost immediately I began doing things to the "new" 4Runner. I decided I was going to do all the things I had previously wanted to do to my silver truck.

Tinted front windows 25% to match the factory privacy tint:

Then was the tedious day of swapping all the goodies I had added to the silver truck, over to the black truck. It was 2 days in total. My dad was a big help (as always) as well as a good friend of mine who provided shop space to do the LBJ's, OTRE's, Oil Change and Trans Fluid change

Note the torch..... LOL

Quick toe and go alignment to finish off 6 hours of work

Trips

Over the summer I took a couple of trips in the 4Runner, first trip was down to Southern Ohio to see some friends. They live right in the heart of Oil, Natural Gas and Coal country. One friends family land has become a 24 hour, 7 day a week Oil drilling operation. The oil company is actually paying to widen and pave the road to bring in more equipment. America is at work here people!

Second trip was up to Cleveland (no photos, I do this often) to see my beloved Cleveland Indians beat the KC Royals.

Third trip was down to Lake Wylie, SC to see my best friends family (we are practically brothers, our families have become eachothers families) for a amazing 4th of July weekend. Great food, great weather, great drinks and great times.

Cooked up a whole mess of ribs

We absolutely reenacted our Cleveland Cavaliers epic Game 7 victory on that hoop

Anytime on the Lake is good time

Driving home through West BY GOD Virginia! Go Mountaineers!

Next trip was up to visit my actual family in New Hampshire. Unfortunately I didn't have any pictures because I had the hood and tailgate repainted while I was there. Insult to injury was the paint job didn't turn out as well as I hoped. :

My girlfriend and I frequently take drives just for the hell of it. Heres one where we reached a dead end but stopped to stretch our legs.

Our latest trip was down to Morgantown, WV to see the Mountaineer basketball team. We had a blast and enjoyed the drive down for sure.

Pictures of the truck with friends

My friend had a 05 Sport for a second, so of course we had to snap some pictures

Another good friend of mine has a hell of a build in his 2003 WRB WRX. Scoop squad had to get a photo together.

And one of my really good friends, and member @hi50 on this board, had a 2016 Tacoma. We did a shoot together as well.

However that very same Tacoma was totalled not to long afterwards. Him and I were riding in it during a charity event for PTSD awareness. We were stopped and were slammed by a Mini Cooper going about 50mph.

The Tacoma took care of us better than most vehicles I think. However my back has never been the same. It's quite hard for me to work on my truck like I used to. Unfortunately short of surgery (that may or may not fix the pain) ive gone through as much Chiropractic care as I can. Life goes on and so does this build!

Lift and Tire Installation

So as a gift for myself, I got everything I needed to get my truck lifted. My coils and shocks on all 4 corners were shot. So I ordered new front quick strut assemblies, Rough Country's 3 inch lift kit, a RevTek diff drop and Spidertrax wheel spacers. Finally for tires I was torn between Duratrac's and BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2's. After chatting with some guys at the shop that I had chosen to perform the work, I went with the BFG's in 285/75r16.

The final product.

It rides really well and I am super impressed. I love the look for sure.

I added CBI's Ditch light brackets and a set of PIAA LP550 LED Driving Lights. Special thanks to @TRD4runnin for the killer deal on the lights and @thebrandon for the install write up on the brackets. Made it a breeze.

I like the subtle mods you've done to your 4runner so far. Looks good.

Thanks Jim! It's actually black... just not as shiny as it used to be.

(I think that's a joke but I can't remember THatfield's 1999 SR5 Highlander build)
