I have no experience with that mount or style. Personally I wouldn't want anything blocking that much of my view either.
I use a magnetic holder from Amazon that was about $13 or so. I've used it everyday for about the last 6 months and it's as solid today as when I first bought it.
It holds my ZTE ZMax Pro which is bigger and heavier than an iPhone plus — without any issues whatsoever. It has never fallen and is very simple to slap your phone on and off since you don't have to mess with clips/clamps or other "squeezy-majigies". Plus it does not obstruct your view yet can be easily seen without moving your eyes much if using a map.
In the last pic you can see the magnet under the case because the case is clear. If your case is not clear then you won't see the magnet. You don't even need a case either as you can apply the magnet to the phone itself too.

I wouldn't want it blocking that much of my view. I don't think that's a legal installation in California. If I recall correctly, they want it to be in an extreme corner of the windshield. Some peoples groups do seem to like them mounted directly in the center of their field of view

Are we really gonna go that route ? Technically YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE ANYTHING ON YOUR WINDSHIELD. Not even a air freshener.

I have the Mob Armor Mobnetic Pro mount that is basically the same at the one mentioned above and mounted in pretty much the same location. Picked it up for like $25 at the offroad expo last year. It has been worth every nickel. It's nice to use as a GPS when off-roading and easy to select music or quickly respond to a text. Never once had my phone fall off the mount since the magnet is pretty strong. I highly recommend checking them out. I even bought one for my wife's car too.
