Nice build. What do you think of the upper control arms now? Still like them?

Thank you! The JBA UCAs have performed just fine and haven't given me any issues, I would buy them again.

How many miles do you have on them. I am considering those for mine.

On July 24th, my newly married wife and I embarked on a 3 week long road trip. We drove from San Diego to Yellowstone, then to Bend, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Sequoia, and then back to San Diego, totalling 3904 miles.
Yellowstone:
Crater Lake National Park:
Hitting 200k on our way to Tahoe:
Observation Point, Rubicon Trail:
The 4Runner did great the entire trip except the driver side rear axle seal busted while doing part of the Rubicon Trail. Everything is fixed now and ready to rock Big Bear this weekend!

Another Big Bear trip in the books.
On Saturday, we completed a trail called Heartbreak Ridge ~10 miles east of Big Bear City. This trail was far better than I expected. It is moderately difficult (a stock 4Runners can do it), but had plenty of obstacles and many harder lines. It was a very pretty trail too. It took nearly a full day to go out and back. I highly recommend doing this trail if you haven't yet (sorry, didn't take any pictures).
The following day we did Gold Mountain (now my 4th time). For some reason I keep coming back to this trail. It's just difficult enough and we keep having so much fun it's hard to turn down. This time for some reason I had a pretty hard time getting up the 2nd waterfall.
I also got pinched at Hard Corner, my rear end slid out and I got high centered on my rear diff so I couldn't move back + I jammed my left front LCA against a rock so I couldn't move forward. I thought I would have to winch out but eventually (after a 10pt turn and a lot of tire spinning), got my LCA free and made it up. The trail seemed like it was more difficult that day than in the past - more had been rutted out, etc.
Ended by going up the wall at the end of Gold Mountian.
Fun weekend, and good way to escape the heat!

It's been a while since I've updated, sorry.
Nothing significant has been done to my rig recently, but that will soon change....

It looks nice, and you did a job well done with your rig. I am excited to know your next plan for it.
By the way, which off-road tires do your run on this vehicle? I am currently using Nitto Ridge Grappler, and I'm looking for an alternative.

This thread (or at least this "build") is coming to a close. The real build is underway and soon a new build thread. I'm cutting up my perfectly good 4Runner, doing a SAS with tons and 40s.
No turning back now...
What's to come:
- 2004 SuperDuty Dana 60 front and Sterling 10.5 rear axles
- 5.38 gears, e-lockers front and rear
- 3-link front with 14" 2.5 Fox coilovers
- Triangulated 4-link rear with 8" 2.5 Fox coilovers, cantilevered to produce 14" of travel
- Front and rear Anti-Rock sway bars
- 2" hydro bumps on each corner
- 40" tires on 17" beadlock wheels
I have spent over a year designing and preparing for this project, I'm finally jumping in and probably getting in way over my head but it'll be a fun ride. Everything has been designed in SolidWorks, here's a few screenshots of the frame and how it should flex/perform. Not everything is finished yet so don't get too critical of unfinished brackets.
More pictures to come as this project progresses.

Looks great, Jake!
If I hadn't gone with 4.88 gears I'd do the NWF crawl box too and keep a more generous highway ratio. Going down some steep stuff yesterday in 4Lo I had to use gas (instead of brake) to keep it moving lol
Did you finish SASing?
EDIT: Just saw the Solidworks pics, looking forward to seeing it done!

The pictures I took of the frame chop were from last weekend. I'm building the new frame this week, hope to get the front axle underneath by next week and start building the brackets.
