FWIW I've got almost 390k on Original Plug Wires and Coils. I know because I asked the PO that I bought it from, who bought the truck with 40k. He said he changed the spark plugs around 200k, and then never got around to changing them again. I'm putting OEM wires on when I do my VC gaskets. The wires themselves are fine, but the clips and protectors are all crumbling. Can't got wrong with something that lasts that long!
When I pull them, I'll post up the resistance values.

Well that's a solution to the almost 2 second lag start if others can verify the same result. :-)
Whats the life expectancy of your style of wire? Same as the ngk densos?
I am curious what side effects would be etc.

Yea, after it sat for around an hour it started as soon as the starter engaged.

Spark Plugs Wires and Coil Information for the 5VZ-FE
At key on on American vehicles it runs the fuel pump for a few seconds to charge the fuel rail. From what I seen in the drawing and hear Toyota May only run the fuel pump then the key goes to start.
That may be the delay cranking it when it’s sat a while.

Yes, that is likely the case on the 4Runners. It is definitely the case on older Toyotas... (mid 90's and earlier). I have never heard the fuel pump prime, but most Toyota pumps are basically silent so it is sometimes hard to tell.

This is easy to test. Just supply power to you pump before you turn the key. If it fires instantly at cold. Then we know for certain that's the cause. I would say you guys are correct because pre EFI the float bowls would empty themselves out in a few days /week etc. This was so if the rigs set a long period of time. The carburetor would not gum up.
I could see Toyota EFI using the same principle to keep the injectors from clogging. Just dont fire the pump until needed.
The rail would be pressurized if the engine was hot and shut off for a little while and that explains exactly what we are seeing.

I’ll admit it feels more zippy with the car quest wire set that have between 1.5 K and 1.8k ohms. They have 1/3’d the resistance of the mag core set from Autozone.
Time and mpg checking will tell.

I can confirm for a fact (it's in the FSM) that the fuel pump is only energized when either the starter is energized or there is a signal from the crank sensor that the engine is running. Nothing happens at key on.

Thanks. That’s what I figured. All fuel systems have a leak down test. Even the best system will not hold pressure overnight. Toyota does thing differently than what I’m use too. Their miss-fire detection sucks.

Well, with the 1k ohm per foot mag core wire set from advanced auto/car quest I got 20mpg driving for work only which is 27 miles of rural two lane roads. 501-419-322 from Myerstown PA to Hershey PA.
It’s the best I ever got but I was getting 19.2 to 19.8 before the lower ohm mag core set from CarQuest.

Thanks Shadow as I will be curious what those values are as well as the values of the original OEM wires that are being junked as a curiously. I never ran wires that long. :-)
