4runner Billies compared to Taco Billies

Anyone have any first hand experience with both??

My 4runner 4600s are a bit on the stiff side for my 3rz in the front. Rear 4600s are good. As they have 100,000km on them now (still waiting for them to break in) I am considering replacing them. I want something a little more compliant in the front end.

I have been wondering if the Taco 4600 or 5100 might be a better fit. I understand they are valved for the lighter Taco. Might have to go back to 4runner OEM for the front.

Bilstein are generally stiffer riding shocks in general. I'm assuming you're stock height, if that's the case OEM type shocks will ride better. Silver body KYB's, Tokico, or even a parts house shock like a Monroe will do just fine.

It really depends on your "buttometer". I went with the 5100 on all 4 corners and love the ride. Good Luck.

Mine’s a 4th Gen but FWIW, the Taco 4600 ride in my 2007 is a perfect blend on and off the pavement. I would call it smoothly truckish. My front coils are also off a TRD Offroad Tacoma & rears are from an FJ. There’s a link in my sig if you’re interested.
