Have you had any luck getting your key fob synced to your truck?
I have a 1999 Desert Dune Metallic 4x4 SR5 and I am also having trouble getting the remote synced. When I bought the 4Runner it didn't have any key fobs so I have nothing to work off in knowing what is the original.
I bought a couple of the 3rd party HYQ12BBX models on eBay which are listed as being for the 1999 4Runner but I cannot get either of them to sync. The locks always cycle twice indicating the pairing did not take. However, this does confirm that I do have a keyless entry option since they are being rejected.
Does anyone know what key fobs my 4Runner should have? Or does anyone have any suggestions on how I can move forward?
Note: I have become a pro at getting the 4Runner into programming mode and could do it with my eyes closed (literally) but I never have any luck. I have already tried wiping out the previous key codes and tried paring the fobs in Add Mode and Rewrite Mode. I used Prohibition Mode to wipe all previous key fobs and I have used Confirmation Mode to verify that there are no key fobs currently synced to the car. I used the repl.pdf guide to help me learn about the different modes in a post that was originally made by TheDirk
here.
Also, like many of the older 4Runners my door actuators are getting tired so I just roll down the window and put an extra key in the door to do lock/unlock cycle. It works like a charm and I can get it into programming mode in less than a minute every time. Originally I was having trouble getting the car into programming mode but I found out that my door jamb switch was bad so I replaced that in about 5 minutes using this amazing
guide. I bought a new door jamb switch on Amazon for about $20.
