So I went to change my oil today, and when I was done, my hood decided to stop latching. After giving it multiple attempts at gently closing it, I began to drop it from about 1 to 2 feet and letting it slam shut. Still wouldn't latch. I even tried pressing on the hood with no luck. Thoughts?

I've tried adjusting those black rubber pieces already and that didn't have any effect on it. Here's a picture of the latching mechanism if that helps any.

PB Blaster the whole mechanism. Spring and surfaces that slide/rotate on eachother. Take a flathead and push the flat hooky thing (inside the 'U'...not the big hood lever one) one way or another. Should spring back. Happens regularly on both of mine and seen it on multiple tacomas.

Hard to tell from the photo, but it may be latched already accidentally. I've done that a time or two leaning into the engine bay. Like octanejunkie said try pulling the release handle again. If not spray it down with lube of choice and try to move the mechanism with the blade of a screwdriver similar to how the hood catch would move it.

Releasing the hood latch resolved the issue. Thanks everyone!

I changed out the old guage cluster bulbs for new leds, now the gas low light is always on, I still have over a quarter tank. Any ideas what happened and how I can fix it? I'm thinking unplug the connectors and reconnect them

So the gas light went off but for some reason the right side dims after I put it all together but was full brightness when I first put the bulbs I thought I fixed the issue.. not sure but going to take the bulbs out again and swap em around.

The bulb holders are polarized, if you put one in "backwards" it won't light the bulb.

There are three main bulbs that illuminate the cluster face. You're lucky, the one on the far right when sitting in the truck is not under the circuit board. You don't need to fully remove the cluster to flip it (if you're careful)

Got it working great thank you! Next problem abs light picked up a abs control module and reset the code but the light is still on I know there's an abs fuse and possibly wiring that could have been chewed by rats. Any idea where I should start next?
