1999 seats in a 98?

The local junkyard got some 99s in the other week, and the seats in my 98 are shot. If i take the center console and seats from the 99s, how easy would it be to swap the seats in mine to those? Thanks!

Seats should bolt right in. Are the 99 powered? then might need some wiring.

Does the 99 has the upgraded center console? If so, it should bolt right in too, BUT make sure you GET the park brake handle from the 99. I did the console swap into my 97 and no drilling required. Had to trim a small part of plastic at the bottom of the storage bin with a file and all bolted right in.

The seats will go 'backwards' fairly easily. 99/00 had a passenger side occupancy sensor, 01/02 had a different occupancy sensor. The 96-98 have neither, so you can use all 3rd gen seats. Assuming non-powered, of course...

I put '97 seats in my '99, but moved the occupancy sensor over from my '99 seats to the '97 seats...

While you are at it swap the seat bottoms left to right (you can swap the seatback foam too, but you have to keep the upholstery on the correct side if you have lumbar adjusters) - the passenger seat always has less wear...

I have seats that move forward and back electronically in my 98, would that require wiring as well?

You don't have to swap center consoles if you don't want to. I swapped 99 seats into my 97, they all bolt right in. I did not swap center consoles.

Both the original 97 seats and the 99 seats I swapped in were both manual seats.

You'll have to compare plugs and wiring colors, etc. to know what you have to do. They may or may not be compatible between the years for electric seats.

I'm sure it should bolt right up although 99" did get some changes. Both do have to be manual or electric for a no-headache install.

I like the 01/02 fabric a lot - though it seems like it might not hold up as well as the older "rough" fabric? Definitely a winner for comfort over the 96-98 fabric. 99/00 fabric is halfway between.
