Shrockworks full skids price increase
50% increase for the full skids + powder coat since the last time I checked a couple weeks ago…
Was about $1k now it’s $1500.

I have the shrockworks skids. If I did it again I'd probably go RCI and lil skips gas tank skid. My shrockworks are a pain to mount up. I'm pretty impressed with the RCI on my dad's FJ though.

It's crazy how much they went up. I was going to get their transmission skid and transfer case skids. Price was good $305 shipped for both. I went back a week later to order them and it had gone up to $505 so I held off.

I have the RCI full skid set w/LCA skids and a Lil Skip gas tank skid. No complaints, full confidence.
Doc Bros front skids for $335 is a good deal, too. Same price as Bud Built.
The price of steel has more than doubled in the last 5 years.

Price of raw materials is up 100% compared to a few years back. It sucks for companies and consumers alike.
That said, I love my Shrockworks skids and glad I got them when I did. They are heavier than all getout though. Which isnt a bad thing all the time..

Thanks for the price update. I'm torn between the full set of shrockworks skids and 4xinnovations with a lil skips gas tank skid.

Do the RCI skids come bare or powder coated? Any issues or tweaks required?

Yeah after pricing out a few options, unfortunately the full powder coated set from Shrockworks isn’t all that much more money. I just installed a friend’s full Shrockworks set and I really like them.
A bit of a pain to mount up but you’ll be able to change the oil, drain and fill the ATF, grease the driveshaft, etc. without removal.
You will need to remove both the t case factory “skid” cover and the t case dampener for them to fit.

Shrockworks full skids price increase
Oh I should add, if anyone wants to run Shrockworks skids along with a Coastal Off-Road front bumper: you’ll need to trim an inch off the bottom plate of the bumper so the skids will fit.
Hard to explain without photos so I’ll get those up on my build thread when I have them.
It’s an easy modification to the bumper but you’d want to make the cut before painting the bumper. Perfectly fine, doesn’t affect the bumper fitment or strength really, and it’s in a spot that nobody would ever really see so it’s not too bad.

I got a used set ~5 years ago...
Yeah, the front (rad) skid bolts to the tow hook locations, not the front mini-crossmember, which interferes with a number of aftermarket front bumper designs. I do like that will be much stronger than something that bolts to that small crossmember.

RCI comes powder coated black
I had to cut the front lip off the front skid (bent upwards) to fit the 4XI bumper

Thank you. Seems like a pretty good price for coming powder coated. I’m just unsure how to touch up damaged powder coating so I’m not sure about going that route either.

Flap disk to get down to bare metal and paint. It'll leave a divot (powder coat is much thicker than paint) - but its a skid, who cares?

I'm in the process of doing this with a used rear bumper that has rust infiltrated powder coat.
I'm blending coating levels with a disc sander and will simply shoot with rust converter as required and top coat the entire bumper. Same as I've done with my skids as I scrape them.
