Valvomax torque spec

Noticed on the packaging it mentioned to look at the website for torque spec but the website just says get it snug. Would it be appropriate to just use the original Toyota torque spec for this thing? Anyone used one of those handy torque sheets for unknown specs for these?

Always use the Factory Service Manual Torque spces.

I am guessing valvoline has suggested Torque values for fill plugs etc.. [ wrong]

Edit: if using valvomax use their Torque values as you probably strip it if you don't.

I tried to teach people to use Google properly on this forum search. It falls on death ears. :/

So it's a valve draining system. So I all answer your question. @badluck

That's the problem, valvomax says see website for torque spec on the box and the website says "snug" (I assume they found that it was a pain to try and give modified torque specs for every vehicle out there).

No offense brillo but I always forget to bookmark that search thing and by the time I need it again I have to Google to find it... Not to mention I posted this thread at like 9:30 last night. Also I'm ADHD so yeah.... It would be really nice of the search feature built into the forum want absolute dog crap. Tbh this is one of the worst forums out there as far as the infrastructure it's running on.

On your question it probably would as those valves.

I have seen folks use them. I personally will not because of the high risk if leakage vs a standard oil plug.

Folks that do say they work great don't have issues.

Follow the directions that come with it and go from there. If it states just snug then that's what it needs to be. It's not like you can't tighten it a bit more if it seeps..

I figure this design is no more likely to leak than a standard plug, it's not one of those fumoto style valves which definitely scare me. It's got great looking threads, a bomber gasket a ball valve and another cap with a gasket so it's basically triple protected. I would hope so considering it cost me 50 bucks >< Reason I went with this is because I would probably have to drop my RCI skids everytime I want to oil change otherwise. The fact that it's supposed to make the job much more mess free is a bonus.

Touche on the give it a little more business if it seeps. Funny that I'm being all particular on this when I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've used a torque wrench to put a oil pan plug on, and I used to change oil for a living >< The one time I actually want to use a torque spec I'm just being told to use gutentite lol.

99% of what is asked on this forum can b found with a small amount of effort if people took the time to research (I know i'm preaching to the choir) and a small grp answer most of these (too them basic and mundane inquires), when i read the question my first thought was the same as urs wtf is that.... imo, the reply and repeated same questions daily are a large part of why knowledgeable people don't bother with forums like this anymore.

@Bad Luck and the others that know who u r, ty 4 all ur input over the yrs

Tighten the Valvomax with a rachet until snug then another 1/4 turn. Drive until hot then check for leaks and double check the valve with the rachet, make sure it's sitting tight the rubber gasket being hot might take another 1/8 of turn.

Most people don't know that the oil drain plug gasket is supposed to be changed every oil change.. LOL

I seen them last 160K miles without changing too. ( I didnt know they were supposed to be changed and they should be from time to time.) Unless you used a copper washer. :-)
