Small leak manual transmission fill plug

Have a small gear oil leak coming from the manual transmission FILL plug

How bad is it to drive extended distances like this? I imagine it's not terrible given it's the fill plug?

Does anyone have a part number for a new plug + crush washer?

Tips for removing it? Tried with a 1/2 ratchet + 24 mm socket but it wouldn't move. Kinda scared to round it out by applying a lot of force

I have a milwaukee heat gun, was thinking about heating up the plug and trying again...

It's the fill plug. So, a seep, it's going to hurt anything.

Did you try penetrating oil for several days? Did you use a 6-point socket? Did you go back and forth on the plug, tightening first, then loosening? Did you use a longer "breaker bar" handle instead of a short ratchet handle? I don't think a heat gun could do much...if any...damage to the metal...but maybe try heating the surrounding area, keeping the heat off the plug as much as possible. You want the case to expand, not the plug, right?

I agree with the above. Worse case, buy an extractor and get that sucker off. Replace with a new plug and gasket. Call it a day

How much force do you think you are actually putting on it to loosen it? Are you using a really short wrench? Keep in mind this plug is rather big so it actually has a decently high torque spec for the aluminum it's going in to. I would put a longer breaker bar on it and lightly tap to loosen. If it's at the proper spec then it won't feel like near as much (assuming my hunch is right on you using a pretty short wrench).

I'm not a burly dude and it takes me using a 24" 1/4 drive breaker bar to get those suckers off. They tend to get pretty stuck. Replace the crush washer when you get it off, that's the reason why it is leaking. You can go to Toyota or just bring the old one to Napa and they'll match it with a copper or aluminum crush washer.

I personally like the copper and aluminum flat crush washer. As the flat ones are reusable...

I also only use 6 point sockets 1/2 drive long breakers if stuck.
