Cruise Control Lag

Hello all!

I just purchased a 96 toy 4runner and I have this situation with he cruise control. Usually if you have the CC on and going up a hill, it will change back and forth from overdrive to the gear below. Normally, I just hit the OD button and let it stay in the lower gear until I reach the summit with the CC on, this eliminates the trasmission shifting back and forth. My new 4runner, when the CC is engaged and approaching a hill I take the OD off, the car will lag for about 4 seconds and then take off. My other 4runners would not lag, this one does. It seems like the CC controller is delayed, hence the lag. I have adjusted the CC cable where it attaches to the throttle body, so there is not slack. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I would say your cc module or cable is about done. I have many 3rd gens and none of them do this.

The only other thing I can think of is your transmission kick down cable make need an adjustment.

What does the cc do with the ect pwr enabled?

I had to tighten my cable all the way and it still has slack. Are the cables supposed to be that way? I wonder if we have the same problem.

My throttle cable isn’t slack. Dont think they’re supposed to be slack. If you have it fully adjusted and it’s still slack the cable is stretched.

Adjusting cables, no slack no tension the taint

96 CC module cable to TB can affect CC and shifting AT. Kind of chicken or the egg I'd check both.
