Writing on Engine

My 2000 4R 3.4 has some sort of a code hand written on the black cover on the front of the engine. Looks like "CGI 132." I've heard of "charged gasoline injection" engines, but not Toyota. And, it looks more like what a salvage shop would write on a used engine. Any ideas what that might mean? Where would I look on the engine to determine if it is the original engine for the vehicle? I would upload a picture but I can't get the file chooser to work.....

Compare serial numbers

Yellow wax pen on an engine to me is junkyard.

It could also be when they changed the timing belt

Toyota does have GDI yet not in MY2000 engines.

Lots of yards around here will mark engines with a paint pen. Mostly their initials or a date.

I agree that it's probably junkyard/salvage/refurbished writing. I mean call me crazy, but if it was the original engine from Japan and there was handwriting on it, I would expect it to be in Japanese

My JDM engine had paint pen written on it, in Japanese! Makes sense being a salvaged engine from Japan. Also had numbers written by the receiving shop in English.

I agree with sentiments above, it is a replacement engine. This can actually be a good thing though as having the original engine with 250K+ miles on it by this point will have its own different set of issues. An engine replacement is a bit like buying a house - anything replaced means it's most likely to be better than what it was before.
