Alarm system locations?

If it is a "VIP" dealer installed Toyota alarm it is under the seat.

If it is aftermarket look around the steering column like James suggested, I put mine behind the gauge cluster. It could also be in either the passenger or driver side kick panel as well as behind the glovebox. You will know if it is an aftermarket install if there is a Valet button somewhere around the drivers area.

could you tell me how to disable this 'alarm' system ? Mine has this box you were talking about under the seat. Mine is a 93 tfr. I haven't had it long. The dinky remote switch deteriorated, now the bells-and-whistles are a nuisance. I don't care for these alarms, don't need to. The cruise control and other stuff is fine. Reminds me of my Ford Ranger stx.
It didn't have the nuisance alarm package. I want to be rid of it.
