DRL disable question...
According to this thread
2002 4Runner: DRL Disable With On/Off Capability - YotaTech Forums
I can just cut the black/yellow stripe wire to disable the DRL's? I do not need or want to put a switch on them.
Can anyone please verify
Thank you

Just put a little electrical tape on each end of the wire so nothing can accidental hit it. One side of that wire is still hot after you cut it.

My 2000 has DRL, the write up talks about 2001-2002... Can I do the same thing?
Thanks,
Tyler

See this thread... Not another DRL thread
Regardless of the year, it should be a black wire with yellow stripe.

I think the 2000s have a big relay in the engine compartment you can just unplug.
Should look something like this
2000 4runner drl relay image by tbox on Photobucket
Check next to battery - between battery and fender for a metal cage looking thing with a plug on it. If it's there then just unplug it and no more DRLs.
But not sure on 2000s. I'm sure someone on here will know and steer you in the right direction. But check for the cage thing next to battery first.

Yep, could barely get my hand in there but I did and unplugged it. No more DRLs

I tried this yesterday. I unplugged the wiring from the DRL box and found the black wire with the yellow stripe. I had already disconnected the negative battery cable. I clipped the wire with the side cutters and then taped the end of it to the rest of the nest of wires. I turned the truck on. put it in gear and released the E brake. No lights ! I turned the headlights on and guess what? No headlights either. I am now perplexed and cussed a little bit at whoever said that you could cut this wire and disable the DRL's. I FORGOT TO PLUG THE WIRES BACK INTO THE HARNESS, LOL. After I plugged them back in, no DRL and the headlights and high beams work perfectly.
Sometimes I am so dumb. LOL

LMAO...sounds like something I would have done! I'm glad everyone had success, I haven't had time to do mine yet.

Cutting the wire is much easier than running a switch. Snip! It's done. Not sure why the other guy ran a switch unless it was a legality issue. Also, does anyone know if you can set up the fog lamps to come on with just the parking lamps?

DRL Module
Just an update in case anyone comes across this thread in the future. The DRL box can be unplugged to deactivate the Daytime Running Lamps just like "Cfrank" said. I am not sure if this is only for a 2000 model or all 3rd gen's but below is a photo from my 2000 Limited since the previous one in this thread was removed.
Just unplug and you're good to go!

That's for 2000 and below I believe. I know for a fact 2001-2002 you cannot do that because the lighting system grounds through there and you will lose all lighting function.
