Replacing shocks on 99 LTD, do rear springs too?

First post here guys, thanks in advance for the responses.

My suspension has been pretty awful lately due in part to our record snowfalls in Richmond this past winter (and record size potholes). I knew I needed to get under there and check some stuff out, but what really got me under there was a horrible noise I heard after driving my back right wheel over the curb as I was pulling out onto a road from a driveway. The end of the strut that connects to the body frame broke out, shearing the bolt! Now I really have to get this project underway....

I would just like to stick with an OEM ride, and found the Trekmasters for a good price. I also haven't noticed much of a rear sag problem, but would it be wise to replace the rear shocks while I'm in there? If it was 96-98 model I definitely would, but just don't know, are the 99 springs fine with the sagging issue? How about the front springs, should I do those as well?

Good source for springs for the 99?

I just did mine on a 1997 Runner I just bought. They were in TERRIBLE shape! truck has 135k on it, stock shocks...
Anyway. I put on KYB Monomax. I used them on my Tacomas in the past and liked them a lot.Good ride, good control and the price is decent. I think I paid around $65 each.

Also...not sure if you are doing the job, but if you are, be ready! Mine were a *****! Toyota engineers were NOT thinking with where they put the mounting nuts.
Be happy that one of yours is already broken off.
The retaining nuts (on the tops) were so rusted on, I ended up cutting a hole in the floor (to access the hardware) and air chisel it off. MAJOR PITA. If you do end of having to go that route, watch the driver side...you have the gas tank right under you (think sparks) and also, mine had some very rusty (brittle) brake lines along the frame rail.

if anyone reading this thinks im nuts for cutting holes in my floor....my view, its an older truck, and the holes are covered with rubber, insulation and carpet. Also, I did not take the material away. just cut a "T" and peeled back the sheet metal.
Beats the hell out of breaking your knuckels. I said to my dad as I was doing it, "im sure I am not the first person who has cut holes in the floor to do this" hahahah.
