MTDewX8 Build thread

well I at least wanted to wait till I had a few pics to share. it will be slow as funds are not plentiful.
I first bought my 00 4r with 117k miles, 5 speed with rear e-locker for 6k.

4 days after ownership I was cleaning the rear dif. and sprung a leak.

so luckily found a used (104k miles) complete axle for $350 at a wreaking yard 1.5 hrs away. installed for $300 the next day. not as bad as I was thinking it might be. $650 total

after that, I was looking for a rear bumper cause my runner dont have a rear hitch, and surprisingly a roof rack. (not even the black plastic strips where the stocker one would have gone its smooth up top.

so I bought some Proline tracks with some Thule feet and towers that will give me some cross bars to attach what ever I want down the road. using some RIVNUTS instead of the metal screws that came with the tracks. Pics to come as I have not installed them yet. just not thrilled on drilling in my roof.

as for the rear bumper? it got put on hold cause CBI was looking for a 3rd gen to use for fabbing up there MOAB 1 bumper they make for the taco's. I am only 3 hours away (north) and offered to spend my spring break down in Idaho falls so they can hook me up with a front bumper. was going to get some sliders too, but funds were short. so I ended up with a awesome front bumper, M8000 winch and Light force lights (winch, lights not installed yet)

I also have a set of LC rims at my folks house that I will pick up on my next visit. will eventually paint them.

I will be adding things as I go, but bear with as it will be slow going.

oh and I had to add, I am loving my runner. the 890's are a little stiff, but oh well. my mileage as been 15-18 around town but got Great mileage driving down to CBI. 23 going down, and with bumper 23.9 for the 200 mile trip. granite I was staying under 70 mph cause going through Yellowstone park is slow. but happy that I am doing that well. I will see how it goes when I cruise at higher speeds.

tires on the the list, but trying to milk my crappy ones for now. if we stop getting snow. I know once I get new tires it will stop snowing.

Where's the pics of the new front bumper? Are they still working on it?

CBI front bumper

so I might as well start with the end result. well almost cause I still have some lights to install and winch. but the winch will take some fitting cause the still black box part you have to plug in to use the winch is not fitting on top of the which. which I am kind of glad cause it will be cleaner out of sight.

what I like about the bumper is the stinker part dont lean to far fwd.

bumper weighs 110 lbs by the way.
not including the winch that will add another 80 lbs. turn signals will be hooked up today also.

here is a pic from my view, and the sliders I ended up not getting this trip.

was really cool to be able to watch each step. cause I am not a metal guy so I am new to welding.

lights

got the lights mocked up. not wired but I had to see how they would look.

it was only a $10 difference between the 140's to the 170's. so I got the 170's strikers and will get them wired up soon.

CBI front

Have they listed a price for the CBI front bumper? Looks similar to the Outdoor Logic front.
Love CBI's rear bumper.\

Looks good man. I love my 170 Strikers; they actually radiate heat from them from about 5 feet away, they are CRAZY bright. I have them aimed low for on-road use (don't have a fog pattern lens set yet, just the clear ones that come with it), and carry a 17MM socket and adj. wrench with me if I need to aim them up for off-roading at night, which I rarely do.

So I finally got the right coils on and to top it off, I got new Shoes.
Duratrac's 265-75-16 and so far very happy with them. when and played on a side gravel back road with the recent 6" of snow this morning we woke up to and turned around in a ditch with no problems.

first road trip tomorrow. but really I am just glad to have the 881's off and replaced with 882's so she is level.

still waiting to get the lights and winch hooked up along with the tracks for the roof rack.

So are the turn signals wired into the lights besides the headlights or is there a small bulb on the bumper?

Im asking because I want to do some custom work on my stock bumper and want to take the lower valance off but dont want to lose the front turn signals cause it tends to piss cops off.

the turn signals are white with amber bulbs inside. if you look at the last pic. you can just see them. dont look like much and might piss off the cops, but they have not let me know yet. lol

just cut the wires with a resistor cause there LED's.
works for me.

field trip today

So as I need a new muffler, and hitch! this was my excuse to get a rear bumper that lets me get a hitch and got the hole on the side to let the exhaust come out of the bumper

so maybe its a spendy way to get a hitch, but I think it was worth it.

Drove down to meet up with Nathan, Steve and gang at CBI in Idaho falls to get my rear bumper installed. (didn't get the sliders due to funds I should not be spending anyway. lol) rained the whole way. dang it. feel like I am in back home in the Northwet.

so I got
exhaust port
hi-lift mount (will get lift later)
single gas/ or water can mount (that is removable)
hitch of course.

Just amazing on how the creation of these bumpers are. saw a few other bumpers in the works or pretty much done and ready for powder coat.
