Does anyone still have their stock head unit in their 4R?

Okay basically I bought this vehicle a long time ago...back in November. Now, everything looks stock to me other than the door speakers (can't tell if it's stock or has aftermarket speakers inside the doors so not 100% confirmed). However, whenever I play certain music such as... "on the run" by Pink Floyd, "Welcome to the Machine" by Pink Floyd, or "Marijuana" by Kid Cudi, the bass shakes the mirrors pretty ridiculously hard so I'm wondering if anyone's stock system did the same thing with their songs that includes bass because that is pretty impressive for a factory sound system if that's the case. If not...I was planning on opening up the doors to see if there was aftermarket speakers the previous owner forgot to take out or it was left there intentionally anyways.

As for opening up the doors, I found a thread where everyone recommended a solid link but the website is no longer in effect or the file is missing from that particular website's database. Does anyone have a thread that shows where i can open the door panels? My system is a NON JBL

I've got a pretty good aftermarket system and the 4Runner is the first car I've owned that the mirrors do not shake. I always thought that this was a credit to the build quality of the truck because all of my other cars with systems had the typical mirror vibration.

I do however get shaking in my driver side mirror, but that is because it is an aftermarket replacement part. Never got shaking from my OE mirror.

I will say that my factory system (non JBL) was decent for a factory radio. I'll also say that I've never been impressed with the JBL system.

Maybe you got something cool in yours. As long as you're happy, Rock On!!!

I have the stock head unit in my 07 (non jbl) and I do notice a little shake in my mirrors. Its not much but there is some minor shaking with bass heavy music. Hope that helps.

I know what you mean. I have an 06 with stock non-jbl, and it sounds great. It does seem like some subs are hidden in the car somewhere. If you find out any other info, let us know!

I DO have the JBL, in an 06 limited, and that doesn't even shake the mirrors... Doesn't always have to be overwhelming bass, just the right frequency can do more damage... In my frontier, i installed Rockford Fosgate speakers, and they rattled the windows and mirrors...

The first thing I did when I bought the truck in July was put a new head unit so I could listen to my iPod and have Bluetooth capability. But the speakers (non JBL) are stock and I am very impressed with them. The only mirror I notice that shakes when the music is loud and the bass is high is the rear view mirror.

I'm not big into audio, but I have a stock non jbl system and its decent, meaning it meets my needs and wants. I like it but its nothing compared to my friends that have JL this and lots of subs and amps. I think the only thing I would change is the headunit.
