Hey all, I'm looking at installing Dynamat in the doors, trunk, and rear ceiling of my 2005 4Runner. Does anybody have any experience doing this same project on a similar aged 4Runner? If anyone has pics, please post.
The rear hatchback rattles like hell with two 12 Kicker CVR's in the back. The back is my main focus for now. If anyone has tips or suggestions please post.
I've heard that removing any seats may deactivate the airbag system. I only have airbags in the front. Is that true?
I know I am asking for a lot of information so feel free to answer any/all parts.
Thanks!
I dynomat extreme'd my doors. Easy to do. Just use roughly 1x2 sized pieces, use scissors to get the shape about right, slide in place, then peal backing and push it on. Cover the whole door skins. Windows won't hit.
I'll be updating this thread with my progress on installation as I go. I am going with Elemental Designs' eDeadening butyl mats and teklite adhesive foam for this installation. My goal is to make this thread a guide as I post my experience and tips for anyone else wanting to do this same project... In other words I'll be answering my own questions in my OP.
So, today I took off the rear hatchback panel to see what exactly I needed and to have some sort of game plan for when my materials arrive. All I have today is pics, here they are.
Thanks HokieRunner!
I'm not sure why it took me so long to get back into the forum, but I just went over your guide you posted with my jaw dropped the whole time. That's more than I want to do to mine at the moment, but when the time comes I'll feel so much better after having your wonderful guide.
