Adding OEM Aux Input to 2005 with 2006 Radio

I have a 2005 T4R sport with full JBL setup including in dash 6 disk changer. A number of years ago I swapped my stock 2005 radio for a 2006 T4r 6disk in dash JBL changer to add XM radio capability.

Now I am wanting to add AUX input using the little brick in the center console. Do you have any idea what all parts I would need to purchase? I'm thinking the little box and the connector to the radio should be all I need, but I want to be sure before tearing the vehicle apart.

I think it would require a bit of custom wiring on your part. If you've got a 2005, I don’t think they wired the JBL for the aux assembly until 2006. The aux assembly is part number 86190-53010, but I don't think you can get the standalone aux wiring: it's bundled into the whole stock JBL wiring harness. The actual cable that inserts into the aux assembly is a 4-pin connector, and I’m not entirely sure how it wires into the harness that connects to your 2006 head unit.

And here's the back of the JBL headunit (Part No 86120-35410) pulled from my 2008. If I recall, the aux cables wired into the 20 pin harness on the far left. I'm not sure what the pin positions were, perhaps someone else here knows

Anyway, hope some of this is useful. My aux went out a couple months ago. I planned on replacing the assembly, but the part alone was a bill. I ended up just replacing the whole head unit with a Pioneer and couldn't be happier.

It's a long shot but I just got a new 4runner and the Aux is not connected to any harness. It has the female blue harness but I can't seem to find the connecting harness anywhere inside center console wiring. Do you happen to have a picture of where the male harness traces back to?

Did anyone figure this out? I too would like to get an 06 HU and run the aux but I'd like to know if this is possible?

the factory aux is part with steering wheel plugs behind the radio, it might be just cheaper and easier to use those bluetooth to fm transmitter. otherwise upgrade your radio with new features like apple car play and android auto.
