Input on going from an HT tread to AT tread MPG's

I just purchased my 2004 SR5 V6 with 140k, I was getting 26+ doing 70 mph on the way back from Tulsa, I am very happy with that. But in the past when I have went from a Highway tread to AT it seems to dip quite a bit, So my question is, has anyone experienced a major drop with the V6 going to an AT tire? If so are there any recommendations on a good looking/long lasting HT tire? Thanks

loss of mpg is all dependent on the aggressiveness of the tread, tire size, and weight. increase of any of those 3 factors is going to lower your mpgs. the more aggressive, bigger, and heavier, the more youre gonna lose. good looking ht's, those are hard to come by, but a lot of people on here will swear by michelins for longevity, goodyears for comfort and grip, and ive heard good reviews on general grabbers too. evaluate what you will be using you're 4runner for, then use that to decide what you need. good luck!
