Rubbing with 265/70/17...what to do?

I just got new tires this morning. At full lock, I get rubbing on the front liner and on the back part of the front mud flap. I have All-Pro 1.5" spacers installed.

It may have been a dumb idea to get the 70's. I honestly didn't think I'd have any rubbing.

I'm relatively inexperienced. I installed my own spacers and that wasn't too complicated. I've read that you can do things to "push the liner forward" but are there any links that explain this...preferably with some pictures. Also, how do I address the mud flap rubbing? Just remove the mud flap all together?

Thanks!

My 265/70's fit fine until I added Spidertrax spacers. I moved the front of the fender liner forward about an inch and because I still wanted some mudflap protection I just cut the "hump" out of the mudflaps... no rubbing at all.

Well...I've been running the BFG's 265/70 for 8 years...

Once my wheel well liner ripped off, its been fine...still have alittle rub at full lock, I just back off as soon as I can afford to...given the situation...

No regrets...Engine compartment doesn't seem to get to wet or dirty...but perhaps I should re line the wheel well???!!??

Great tires...had at least 65,000 miles....only fact is that I had developed a speed vibration at 65 mph on certain pavements...now with new tires...NO Vibration! That's the price of using the tires till they are whupped.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info, guys. I ended up just removing my mud flaps. I expected to see an open body cavity when I did, but it's still all covered. I think the open body cavity may be on the back.

Also, instead of moving the liner forward in the front, I just cut the offending rubbing parts. I tested with some flex at full lock and I'm not rubbing any more. I'm a little worried about dirt and stuff getting in there, but I don't really do any off-roading, so I think I'm good. Worse case scenario, I buy some new liners.

Here are the pics. BFG Rugged Terrains

They're decently aggressive...

This is with 1.5" All Pro spacers.

They don't stick out as much as I thought they would with the spacers. I think it's the bevel in the tire. I'm not sure if they measure the width at the widest point or if it's the actual tread?

No more mud flaps in the front.

Liner trimmed.

I would try removing the spacers to see if it improves...not sure what the spacers are buying anyway...

good luck

A wider stance...improvement in looks. My opinion. Besides that, rubbing on a bigger tire without spacers will not improve. It will just change the location of the rubbing. Possibly to the point where I couldn't even drive with the tires on.

I had to trim the corner of my rear flare at the bottom for turning fully lock to lock. Also the front corner.

That kind of baffles me. Is it because of some sort of suspension flex? I don't understand why full lock turning would impact the rear.

sorry i meant on the front. The front/rear of that wheel opening. Although the rear moves side to side out/in left to right.
