windows down annoying

I've had my 2006 for just about a year now and the only thing i don't like about it is that there is an annoying wind chop with the windows down, and i like driving with the windows down a lot. It's better when you crack the rear hatch window but still annoying.

Am i crazy or have others noticed this? Maybe those tinted side window visors help deflect air?

The choppiness happens on every vehicle I've ever been in, including my Runner. Not sure about the visors though. I assume the noise comes from turbulence hitting the pillar behind the offending window.

Don't leave the rear window down too far, sometimes ends up fumigating the cabin

Are you driving with the rear windows down only? I don't get any buffeting with all four or the front windows down, even the just the driver's window is fine.

The only time I get chop is if I roll down one or both back seat windows with all others closed. And it's not the only car I've had do this

My cure is to just crack the rear windows 2-3". Then I can have the fronts and/or sunroof open without buffeting. I can't comment on the rear window since I have the stock exhaust.

The visors will cut the wind when the window is only down that distance, but, noticed the noise factor also increased with them.

Having come from a Durango, I can say it is waaaay worse in my 4runner. It's just the design of the truck. I too like to ride with windows down, but I've given up on it.

Glad to hear this because i thought i was getting old or going crazy.

Its not the chop that you get when 1 window is down in the back, its just when any windows are down its really loud and you get beat up by the wind more than in other cars.

My last car was a TJ with half doors and I also own a convert, so its a little out of character for me to complain about wind noise. Its not the end of the world I've just noticed that i keep the windows up more than i typically would.
