Going to check out an '03 with 12K miles - BOUGHT IT ! !

I have a lead on a local '03 4Runner (std. SR5) with only 12K on the odometer, and has been garaged kept as far as I know.

My mechanic services this vehicle with annual oil changes, state inspections and selling new batteries to the owners every year.

I'll take it out for a test drive and run it through the usual paces, etc.

Other than keeping an eye for the 'the usual', such as tires, belts, hoses, anti-freeze, brake fluid, rubber door gaskets, etc., is there anything else that I should pay particular and/or casual attention to?

Age of various brake parts, brake fluid.
Lots of old rubber seals in that system. But I'll bet the pads / shoes are still in good shape.
 
No TPMS on '03's!:bravo:

Edited to add: The only thing I can think of on '03's besides what you would normally check on any car you were thinking about buying is the infamous vinyl dash cracks which seems to happen to '03's moreso than other years.

Wow that's still a baby, wow just wow. I would just check the vehicle all over up and down. Typically on an 03 you'd be looking at rust, seals and just other known issues but with only 12k and possibly garage kept I don't think much would wrong. But with the vehicle not getting much use obviously some seals, plastics and what not could be dry rot or on their way. I'd check the 4 wheel drive in high and low both since obviously it's not been used much. Was this just owned by a older adult who stayed home a lot or someone who worked from home?
 
I picked it up this morning!!

It's a base SR5 model. Dark blue, with 17" wheels, a sunroof, running boards and a spoiler. Other than some caked on dirt, built-up pollen and a bit of flaky surface rust underneath, it is otherwise in perfect shape.

My mechanic, who also previously serviced this vehicle for its former owners, gave it a good once over and gave it the thumbs up. Belts, hoses, tires, etc., all look very good.

In the next few weeks I will have all of the fluids and filters replaced, and I will put some time into cleaning, detailing and waxing it.

I am totally psyched!!

Not sure what my first 'mod' will be though.

Thats un****ingbelievable. 12k miles on an 11 year old, soon to be 12 year old 4Runner. I have the Blue as well and I always love the color. Never a day that I wished it was different. Only thing that's hard to match is rims because in my opinion black doesn't look good with the blue at all. I kept my stock rims which are exactly what you have and they look much better with a lift and some aggressive tires.
