I'm actually down in MD during most of the year for school, but I currently bum around Southwestern CT, kinda near Brookfield if you know where that is.

03->06 Headlight Swap Guide

So I just finished putting all of this together. I hope it helps someone in the future. Here is my guide to swapping 2003 headlights with the 2006 projectors.

Haha no way dude! Small world for sure. I'm really new to the 4runner/wheeling scene, so I'm thinking I'm gonna try to hit up Rausch Creek a few times over the school year. Only like 1:45 away!

Been a little while and I almost forgot about this thing! Haven't done too much recently, but I did go scuba diving with a buddy the other day. He wanted to take his little Benz sedan and I'm happy I overruled him. Not only did we have a ton of gear, but the road down to the dive site was nuts. Rocks, ditches, gravel, etc etc etc. Happy to say the 4Runner took it like a champ and I am in love with this beast. Now I want to go offroading even more!

Here is a pic from the awesome day we had.

Cb Radio

Ended up finding a few killer deals on some CB equipment, so I said screw it and decided to get the rest of the parts needed. Hopefully going to get this mounted up later this week, and then tuned in an open field with my buddy at the beginning of next week.

So far the parts I have are:
-Cobra 75
-3' Firestik
-18' Fire ring coax
-Spring
-Comet RS720

Definitely going to be placing this above my driver side tail light in order to get enough clearance over the roof line. Should be a relatively easy install. I went with the 75 cause I want something small and discreet, and potentially removable.

As for wiring, I am hoping to keep the little control box under the dash near the cup holders, and wire it in to an ACC Fuse (any suggestions?). I have a few extra blank switch covers, so I might play around with the idea of cutting one up to accommodate the disconnect-able plug. Would be very clean and such, but not sure how feasible it actually is. Then I think I'm going to use some adhesive velcro to mount to mount the 75 below the 4Hi/Lo switch. Now I just need to figure out how to run the coax! Any suggestions?

Stealth LED Bar

Have been so swamped with work and school recently that I haven't been able to do any actual work on my car. I have my CB ready to go, and just today I got the final piece for my Stealth LED Bar. Here are some pics of the brackets and a little teaser of the light bar!

I ended up going with an Opt7 bar. From my research, people seemed to have pretty good luck with them and it wasn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. I actually found it was cheaper to buy it directly from them with the wiring harness, so I did just that. The harness looks well made, the bar feels like a tank, and I am so excited to install it (hopefully this weekend!).

is this the led bracket for the group buy? I'm looking to order these brackets and i think i may copy your idea with the led bar as well. But didn't it say the brackets would only fit a 30" bar?

Yea it is from the group buy from @MojaveMadMan . I think he is out of stealth brackets, but if there is enough interest I am sure he would make more.

And yup, 30" bar. Technically it is a 32" bar because there are few actual 30" bars. One of the reasons I chose the OPT7 32" bar was because it was relatively cheap, and the other reason was because apparently it is the bar that the bracket is based off of.

Like the build!!! You don't always have to go crazy to have a great rig.

Correct on bar sizes!

I am currently waiting for laser cut pets for 6 Stealth bars. Taking pre orders and will be shipping in the next three weeks or sooner.

If anyone is interested please check out the for sale thread or PM me any time!

Stealth LED Bar Installed

So here it is. Took me a few hours cause I was messing around with some stuff, but here is the stealthed LED Bar on my 4th gen.

As I said in my previous post, I went with the brackets from @MojaveMadMan and a 32" OPT7 bar + wiring harness.

As for the install, it was relatively easy. The brackets are very very solid and I am extremely happy with them. I will admit, it does take some shimmy-ing though. I had to push the brackets out with a bit of force in order to get the light bar to go in. But in the end it was a very snug fit and that actually gives me more piece of mind. I don't want this thing bouncing around a ton. The brackets were relatively easy to install and I tightened them down as hard as I could when everything was installed. Going to check them and the light bar for the next few days of driving to double check and make sure everything is fine and still snug. The bar sits essentially right on the inside of the bumper, and it feels solid as all hell when everything is nicely torqued down. Very happy with light output, even behind the lower valence.

As for the light bar, it came with the right bolts, but they were just a hair too long, so the bar had too much play. Easy for adjusting, bad for driving. So I went to the hardware store and got a washer and a lock washer for both sides to fill the space and hopefully keep the bar in place. Ended up working perfectly in terms of positioning and tightening. Again, going to keep an eye on it and check it over the next few days of driving.

In case anyone is curious, the OPT7 wiring harness is very well done. The switch provided is pretty shitty, but I had my one ConturaV switch I was going to use anyway. The harness is solid, well wrapped, and comes with plenty of length (and by plenty I mean way to much lol). My only gripe was that the wires for the + and - were a bit too short and the ring terminal things were wayyyyyy to big. Ended up cutting them off, extending the wiring, and putting my own smaller terminals on.

Overall I am very pleased with everything and I am looking forward to some inclement weather! For now, enjoy some of the pictures from the install! And if you have any questions, please, ask away!

After the install, unlit.

The wiring was kind of confusing, so if anyone needs a reference pic, here is one. Maybe I'm just dumb.

Simple question

I have a really simple question that really doesn't warrant its own thread, so I figured I'd post here and hope someone sees it.

I am going to install my CB soon, and I did a test fit last night of the firestik and comet RS mount. I want to put it on my trunk hatch, right by the driver side tail light. I did the test fit, but didn't full tighten down the RS720. When I closed it, it seemed to put a bit of pressure on the tail light, to the point that I feel like one wrong close and it'll crack the tail light housing. Should I simply put it higher up above the tail light? Or is the pressure a non issue? Thanks for any help!

Rausch Creek 10/24 Pt1

Went to Rausch for the day for my first true off roading experience! All I can say is wow, am I impressed with the 4Runner. Way more capable than I had imagined, and I never felt out of control. Ran the entire day in 4Hi with the Center Diff Locked. Only dropped in to 4Lo to pull a jeep out

All in all, I cannot wait to go back. Didn't realize there were a ton of forum members there too. Ended up wheeling with my cousin (who has the Grand Cherokee) and another forum member with a beastly 3rd gen. I didn't get his name to tag him, so if anyone recognizes this 3rd gen, then please tag him!

Also had the GoPro on the car and got some fun footage, so hopefully that will turn in to a nice video later this week.

And here are some pics!

More Pics from Rausch!

Here are some more pictures from Rausch! The couple that wheeled with us took these photos. I haven't been able to find them in the third gen section, but I know they are on here. If anybody recognizes that 3rd gen, mind tagging them or PMing me? Thanks!
