911 Dead on the road at a gas station pulling a camper

05 4th gen V8 125,000 miles. Been towing last 2 weeks on family trip. I have had zero issues. I stopped to fuel up in eagle colorado and the truck would try to start and die. It would miss out and try stay running but would then die. I tried multiple times to keep it going but it wouldnt. Now the truck wont crank. It did throw a CEL but the torque app could not read it and no number was goven. Now truck wont even turn over, even with a jump pack connected. Help me please!

Kinda sounds fuel related. Hopefully others will chime in that have experienced something similar.

Check the obvious first. Battery connections, grounds, etc. Clean anything corroded. Check battery voltage. Did you get a battery light at any point? Could be your alternator is taking a shit and not charging the battery very well while you're towing. Other than that I don't have much without you being able to pull a code out.

You could also consider checking some of the fuses... things like ECU, fuel pump, whatever else related.

Found no blown fuses. When i went to crank the engine the last time it would not crank, no clicking or anything just wouldnt crank. All other accessories and dash lights come on. Torque app cant detect the obd 2 anymore, possible bad ecu?

Also altenator seemed to be operating fine and no battery light, i replaced it last month with a denso so it should be good.

Do y'all think it could be water in the fuel and now it's hydrolocked? The torque app not recognizing the ecu doesn't sound right for that though. So it could be more electrical.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a little while and letting the electronics reset?

I was thinking bad fuel but i have been here 2 and half hours now and no one else has issues. Could it have been bad fuel from my last stop now getting mixed in?

This is the relay labeled STA does it look cooked to you guys? Could the multiple cranks cause the relay to fry?

DO you have a multi-meter to test the relay?

Rule out the battery first. Everything you're describing could be caused by a failing battery (which probably failed because the alternator let go).

I'll try to find it but I'm not sure which pair is which. You could try to use a piece of wire and connect a pair of terminals to the battery. A relay is just a switch so when you connect the right two terminals in series with the battery a solenoid will actuate and you will hear it click. That will connect or disconnect the other terminals. Are there any numbers on the terminal side?

Yes altenator and battery are good. Battery light never came on and have been monitoring the volts during the trip via the torque app. Volts have not gone below 13.4 the entire trip. Try to figure out how to test the starter relay.
